Graduate/Undergraduate Student Research
As part of the Texas A&M University System, the Spacecraft Technology Center supports and leverages the Texas A&M faculty and other research Centers in the System. Three Texas State Agencies, including TEES, and one of the largest engineering colleges in the U.S. comprise the Engineering Program at Texas A&M. Texas A&M Engineering ranks among the finest and most comprehensive engineering programs in the nation. The Dwight Look College of Engineering contains more than 9,000 engineering majors enrolled in 12 departments. The collaboration between the STC and Texas A&M Engineering is bolstered by the ability to turn on new efforts rapidly, and has resulted in several successful prototyping and space flight projects.
The Spacecraft Technology Center is also co-located with the Space Engineering Institute, an exclusive partnership with NASA that is focused on providing an opportunity for students to work in the space industry. Students work on team projects, mentored by STC and NASA personnel, with the objective of providing real hands-on engineering and an interest in remaining in the Space profession. Projects are geared toward NASA and their development of the International Space Station (ISS), Space Shuttle, or human exploration of the solar system. The projects are multi-disciplinary and require expertise from aerospace, mechanical and electrical engineering, computer science and other engineering disciplines.
